Medicine Kub

A simple redesign of the medicine bottle, addressing issues of dexterity, legibility, and efficiency with current medicine bottles.

refreshed and renewed

This project began with an attempt to reduce plastic waste. This led us to choose a durable glass as the main material, which can be fully washed, disinfected, and re-used. We also felt that a clear material better helps to see which pills are contained.

Easy Swivel

The cap allows for the user to grip its corners much easier than a rounded cap. The cap also stays on the bottle when opened (unless being refilled) so that it doesn’t roll away or get lost.

one at a time

The half-moon opening reduces the amount of pills that come out at a time—they don’t all pour out at once.

organization

The rectilinear forms make organizing in a medicine cabinet or on a countertop much more efficient. The shapes are also much more stable, reducing the amount of time they tip over.

Legibility

The rounded shape of a bottle means you have to revolve it to read the entire set of instructions. There is also too much information displayed on a traditional prescription. We’ve reformatted the type and presented only the most important information. If further reading is necessary then it can be found underneath the peel-away layer.
